About The Role
Join Shopify's Large Accounts team as a Lead Account Executive for DACH. You'll own the largest and most complex opportunities in our commercial segment, partnering with established consumer brands across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as they modernize and consolidate their commerce stack on Shopify.
This is a senior new business role: longer cycles, bigger buying committees, higher stakes. You'll orchestrate complex evaluations end to end, engaging C-level stakeholders and working closely with Solution Engineering, Partners, and Product.
Key Responsibilities
- Own a book of the largest DACH accounts: source, build, and manage your pipeline with precise forecasting.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to land high-value new logos and expand strategic merchants.
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder evaluations across digital, IT, finance, and the C-suite; keep momentum with mutual action plans.
- Lead replatforming and consolidation evaluations against legacy and composable stacks, with a rigorous TCO and business case.
- Create sales playbooks for complex evaluations, collaborating with Solution Engineers, Partners, and internal teams.
- Negotiate complex, high-value agreements with win-win outcomes.
- Leverage the DACH partner ecosystem (agencies, systems integrators) to source, influence, and accelerate deals.
- Leverage (and build your own) AI agents to reduce toil and sharpen deal execution.
- Travel within DACH to engage clients, attend trade shows, and run executive meetings.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native German and professional English are required. You run boardroom-level conversations in German.
- Extensive experience in a closing role selling to large or enterprise accounts, with a track record of landing new logos and exceeding targets.
- Expertise negotiating complex deals with multiple stakeholders and long evaluation cycles.
- Structured qualification and discovery discipline (MEDDICC or MEDDPICC); evidence-based forecasting with clear action plans.
- Ability to sell into technical requirements (APIs, ERPs, POS, middleware) alongside Solution Engineers.
- High agency and execution intensity: you default to action and stay effective in ambiguity.
- Experience with CRM and sales engagement tools (e.g. Salesforce, Salesloft, LinkedIn).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About Shopify
Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.
This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.
About You
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
- Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
- Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
- Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
- Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
- Bring critical thought and opinion
- Put AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do
- Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
- Work digital-first for your daily work
