Technical Lead AI Engineering | Guildford (Hybrid) | Generative AI, LLMs & Machine Learning | Up to £150K + Benefits

We're partnering with an established technology-led business investing heavily in AI, data and automation as it builds the next generation of intelligent products and services.

They're looking for a Technical Lead AI Engineering professional to lead a team of AI Engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in the design, development and deployment of production-grade AI solutions. This is not a people management role where you move away from technology.

The expectation is that you'll spend the majority of your time building and delivering AI systems whilst setting technical direction and mentoring the team.

You'll work across modern Generative AI applications, LLMs, RAG architectures, traditional machine learning, MLOps and data engineering, helping shape the company's AI strategy and engineering standards while solving real business problems at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and deployment of production-grade AI and machine learning solutions across the business.
  • Build and scale LLM-powered applications using RAG, vector search, retrievers, prompt orchestration and agentic workflows.
  • Design and optimise data pipelines using Python, PySpark, SQL and Databricks.
  • Define engineering standards for AI experimentation, model evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
  • Drive best practices around MLOps, version control, reproducibility, CI/CD and production AI systems.
  • Lead a team of AI Engineers through mentoring, technical guidance, code reviews and career development.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate complex problems into practical AI solutions.
  • Influence platform, tooling and architectural decisions across AI, data and machine learning initiatives.
  • Establish monitoring, guardrails and governance frameworks to ensure AI systems remain reliable and secure in production.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
