Lead Analyst, Automotive Semiconductor

Location: Europe (UK, Italy, France) or Detroit Area – Office, Hybrid, or Remote


The Team

The EE&Semiconductor team at S&P Global Mobility is the undisputed global leader for automotive semiconductor market forecasting, tracking transformational technologies like Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and advanced zonal architectures across the entire semiconductor ecosystem.

The team has developed unique methodologies to quantify semiconductor demand by propulsion, architecture, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), while maintaining close industry relationships to deliver innovative solutions that anticipate market needs.


Responsibilities and Impact

  • Market forecasting & analysis:

    • Review and provide analytical guidance on quarterly automotive semiconductor forecasting through primary research and industry stakeholder interviews, delivering key market insights to drive strategic business decisions globally.
    • Conduct primary research with automotive semiconductor ecosystem stakeholders to validate market assumptions, track supply chain shifts, and identify emerging design trends that impact forecasts and client strategies.
  • Data-driven forecasting updates:

    • Leverage teardown analysis and team research insights to dynamically update market forecasts, review current predictions for improvement opportunities, and implement corrections to ensure forecast accuracy and reliability.
  • Customer support & industry engagement:

    • Provide timely customer support via email, phone, and regular face-to-face visits to stakeholders across the automotive semiconductor value chain (from chip suppliers to Tier 1 suppliers to OEMs).
    • Present analysis and insights at:
      • Client meetings
      • Industry webinars & conferences
      • Serve as a media spokesperson for automotive semiconductor developments and trends.

  • Cross-functional collaboration:
    • Work with editorial, marketing, and commercial enablement teams to develop:
      • Thought leadership content

        • Vehicle sales
        • Electrification

What We're Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive semiconductor industry, preferably as:
    • Field Application Engineer
    • Product Marketing professional, or a similar technical role at automotive semiconductor suppliers.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Semiconductor technologies
    • Automotive industry dynamics, including:
      • Supply chain
      • Design cycles
      • Market trends
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to:
    • Interpret complex technical data
    • Process market information and teardown analysis to generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience presenting technical concepts to:
    • Clients
    • Media
    • Industry stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel regularly for:
    • Face-to-face client meetings
    • Industry events across:
      • Europe
      • North America
      • Asia-Pacific

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s/MBA) in:
    • Engineering
    • Business, or a related field with a focus on:
      • Technology markets
      • Automotive industry
  • Experience in:
    • Market research
    • Forecasting/analyst roles within:
      • Technology or automotive sectors
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain industry relationships.
  • Knowledge of teardown analysis methodologies and experience interpreting:
    • Physical product analysis to derive:
      • Market insights
      • Competitive intelligence.
  • Proven track record in public speaking, media engagement, or thought leadership activities, including:
    • Conference presentations
    • Webinars
    • Industry publications
