About the Team

GSMA Intelligence is the definitive source of global mobile operator data, analysis and forecasts, and publisher of authoritative industry reports and research. We provide the most accurate and complete set of industry metrics available, comprising tens of millions of individual data points, updated daily. GSMA Intelligence is relied on by leading operators, vendors, regulators, financial institutions and third-party industry players, to support strategic decision making and long-term investment planning. Our data and insights are frequently cited by the media, academia, and NGOs. The GSMA Intelligence team is largely based in London and Delhi but is currently expanding with new roles in other locations to build out its regional capabilities and deepen on-the-ground insights.

About the Role

Research and consulting delivery

As a senior member of the GSMA Intelligence analyst team, the Lead Analyst will lead the delivery of complex consulting and research engagements across the telecoms and broader TMT sectors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Track and analyse key industry, market and regulatory developments across the telecoms and wider technology ecosystem
  • Lead and support high-value consulting projects from initial scoping through to final delivery, including methodology design, research execution and stakeholder management
  • Produce high-quality insights and deliverables across a range of formats including:
    • Research reports
    • Strategic presentations
    • Data models and forecasts
    • Client briefings and advisory sessions
  • Deliver clear, evidence-based insights that support strategic decision-making for clients and GSMA stakeholders
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key industry stakeholders including:
    • Mobile network operators
    • Technology vendors
    • Tech and internet companies
    • Regulators and policymakers
    • International organisations
  • Conduct analyst briefings, one-to-one meetings and industry engagement to gather insights and strengthen GSMA Intelligence’s industry perspective
  • Contribute to the overall thought leadership of GSMA Intelligence through published analysis, client presentations and collaborative research initiatives

Business and Relationship Development

The Lead Analyst will support expanding GSMA Intelligence’s consulting footprint and client development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leverage existing relationships and professional networks to identify and develop new consulting opportunities
  • Support the conversion of initial engagements or seed projects into medium and high-value client relationships
  • Work closely with GSMA Intelligence sales and marketing teams to support client acquisition, proposal development and strategic account growth
  • Act as a senior regional representative for GSMA Intelligence, providing a local presence and first point of contact for prospective clients
  • Identify opportunities to create cross-organisational synergies across GSMA business lines, including:
    • Industry events
    • Strategic partnerships
    • Membership engagement
  • Support commercial initiatives linked to GSMA flagship events, including MWC and 360 series, where consulting insights can be integrated into broader client offerings
  • Contribute to the positioning of GSMA Intelligence as a leading global telecoms research and consulting organisation

Stakeholder Engagement

Effective collaboration across internal and external stakeholders is critical to the success of this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with other departments to support joint initiatives and strategic priorities of the GSMA whether policy or technology oriented
  • Partner with colleagues across GSMA Intelligence, including analysts, economists, sales and marketing, to ensure successful project delivery and commercial growth
  • Engage with external consultancies and partners working with the GSMA where relevant to research or advisory engagements
  • Lead and support client pitches, presentations and proposal development
  • Represent GSMA Intelligence externally through:
    • Industry conferences and events
    • Client workshops and executive briefings
    • Public speaking engagements and panel discussions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to reinforce GSMA Intelligence’s reputation and industry presence

About You

You will have extensive experience and knowledge of telecoms industry dynamics and will be familiar with major trends shaping the global digital ecosystem.

You will also have a solid understanding of the telecoms business, technology and policy landscapes and can analyse the impact of various developments on the mobile and broader telecoms sector.

You will have compelling written and oral communications skills and the ability to deliver insights independently.

You will be a confident communicator, able to discuss research insights with internal colleagues and present same to external stakeholders at industry events and other forums.

This is a senior, client facing role suited to a recognised industry expert with deep telecoms knowledge and experience, strong analytical capability and a well-established professional network across operators, vendors, regulators and technology stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine rigorous research delivery with commercial acumen, helping expand GSMA Intelligence’s consulting presence with telecom, TMT and vertical sector clients. The role requires frequent interaction with senior industry stakeholders and includes public speaking, presentations, and thought leadership across industry forums and GSMA events.
