Lead Auditor and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor

Location: Home Based with UK-wide travel
Salary: £50,000
Employment Type: Full Time - Permanent

At Serco, our transport and fleet operations support some of the UK's most critical public services. From defence and justice to health and citizen services, our fleets operate across hundreds of locations, delivering essential services safely, efficiently and in full compliance with complex regulatory requirements.

We're looking for a highly experienced transport professional to join us as a Lead Auditor and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor. This is a specialist role responsible for providing independent regulatory oversight, ensuring Serco continues to meet the highest standards of transport compliance, governance and operational assurance across the UK.

Working closely with the Head of Operator and Legislative Licensing, you'll provide expert advice to senior leaders, oversee regulatory compliance programmes and help protect the business by ensuring our transport operations consistently meet statutory obligations and industry best practice.

What you'll be doing

This is a varied and influential role where you'll combine strategic oversight with hands-on regulatory assurance. You'll work across multiple contracts and operating centres, building strong relationships with operational leaders while maintaining an independent governance perspective.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as Serco's appointed Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA), leading compliance activities, producing statutory annual reports and providing expert advice across the business.
  • Conducting Operator Licence audits across Serco operating centres, identifying risks and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Providing expert guidance on UK and EU transport legislation, Operator Licensing requirements and transport governance.
  • Delivering Dangerous Goods and transport compliance training to operational teams, Transport Managers and leaders across the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
