JD / Role Overview
This role is essentially for a Senior QA Automation Lead / SDET with strong AI-driven testing expertise, who can help the Bank build and scale next-generation test automation capabilities. Bank of England is looking for an SC-cleared Senior QA Automation Lead/SDET who combines deep test automation expertise with modern AI-driven testing capabilities, automation framework design, DevOps integration, and enterprise-scale delivery experience.

- Primary Skill: Senior QA Automation Architect / Lead SDET
- AI Testing: Hands-on experience with GenAI, AI-assisted testing, RAG-based systems, intelligent automation, GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Cursor AI
- Innovation: Experience developing PoCs, AI-led test generation, regression optimisation
- Automation: Strong Selenium, Playwright, Appium, Rest Assured, TestNG experience
- Framework Design: Ability to build scalable automation frameworks from scratch
- Testing Coverage: Web, Mobile, API, Desktop and Cloud testing
- DevOps Integration: CI/CD integration using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes
- Cloud Skills: AWS and/or Azure testing environments
- Leadership: Test strategy, governance, estimation, stakeholder management
- Delivery Experience: Large-scale automation programmes with measurable efficiency/cost benefits
- Tools: BrowserStack, Perfecto or similar cloud testing platforms
