Senior Automation Engineer - SC Cleared
City of London - Onsite 3 days a week
12 month contract
Inside of IR35
£600 per day
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for delivering and maintaining critical enterprise applications. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on automation specialist who enjoys driving quality, leading technical initiatives, and mentoring engineers while working on complex, business-critical systems.
As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing automated testing solutions across a range of applications, ensuring exceptional quality, reliability, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead automation testing activities across functional, system, integration, end-to-end, and security testing.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using industry-leading tools.
- Manage and mentor a small team of Test Automation Engineers.
- Provide technical leadership and champion automation best practices.
- Analyse test results, identify defects, bottlenecks, and areas for optimisation.
- Collaborate closely with developers, architects, and product teams to improve test coverage and software quality.
- Develop and execute performance testing strategies using tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including framework enhancement and process optimisation.
- Support recruitment activities and help build a high-performing testing capability.
- Drive innovation in testing practices and contribute to overall quality engineering strategy.

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Extensive Automation Engineer experience
- Live SC Clearance
- Strong experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Experience with API, system, security, and UI testing.
- Proficiency with automation and testing tools such as:
- Karate
- Eggplant Functional
- Postman
- SoapUI
- Experience working with middleware and messaging technologies including:
- Kafka
- IBM MQ
- ACE
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to mentor colleagues and work collaboratively across technical teams.
