Lead Automation Engineer

Hybrid | Central Scotland (60,000-65,000)

Our client, a leading professional services organisation, is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer to drive the design, development and support of business, test and AI-enabled automation solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll shape automation strategy while delivering scalable, secure and resilient solutions that create real business value.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the design, build, testing, deployment and support of automation solutions.
  • Developing solutions using UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate, APIs and scripting technologies.
  • Integrating AI capabilities where they deliver measurable business benefits.
  • Building and maintaining automated test frameworks using Playwright, Selenium and API testing tools.
  • Ensuring production-ready solutions with monitoring, alerting, error handling and audit controls.
  • Driving automation best practice, mentoring colleagues and influencing technical standards.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to identify and deliver high-value automation opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience delivering enterprise automation solutions.
  • Expertise with UiPath, Power Automate and related automation technologies.
  • Experience with Playwright, Selenium or similar test automation frameworks.
  • Practical experience integrating AI services and APIs into business processes.
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles, security best practices and API integrations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
