About the Company
Our client, a growing digital consultancy, is seeking a Principal Business Analyst specialising in identity and access management to lead complex discovery, assessment and delivery work.
About the Role
Working within multidisciplinary teams across data, design, product, delivery, analysis and engineering, the successful candidate will help senior clients define complex problems, establish clear outcomes and shape product and service direction. The role combines senior consultancy, strategic business analysis, product thinking and practical identity expertise. It also carries responsibility for supporting bids and proposals, mentoring other business analysts and strengthening the organisation’s internal identity capability.
Responsibilities
- Lead business analysis across identity-related discovery, assessment and delivery engagements.
- Help senior clients frame complex problems, challenge assumptions and agree clear outcomes.
- Shape product and service direction across complex accounts.
- Manage high-level scope, strategic risks, dependencies, backlogs and delivery approaches.
- Translate complex identity and security concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client executives, product teams, architects and technical specialists.
- Mediating conflicting stakeholder priorities and guide teams towards clear options and delivery decisions.
- Apply identity expertise to requirements, service design and product decisions.
- Support bids, proposals, requests for proposal and pre-delivery assessments.
- Contribute technical identity knowledge to business development and commercial activity.
- Adapt analysis methods to suit product, delivery, architecture and engineering teams.
- Line manage, coach and mentor business analysts.
- Support recruitment and contribute to the wider business analysis community.
- Develop internal standards, guidance and knowledge-sharing activity relating to identity.
- Help build and scale the organisation’s identity business analysis capability.

Qualifications
- Extensive business analysis experience within complex digital environments.
- Strong practical experience of identity and access management, digital identity and identity architecture.
- Experience covering customer, workforce and non-human identities, including agentic artificial intelligence use cases.
- Knowledge of identity verification approaches, including GPG45.
- Strong understanding of multi-factor authentication.
- Experience with authorisation models, including role-based, attribute-based and policy-based access control.
- Knowledge of joiner, mover and leaver lifecycle management.
- Experience of identity governance and administration.
- Understanding of single sign-on, federation, fraud prevention and zero-trust approaches.
- Familiarity with major commercial identity platforms and native cloud identity capabilities.
- Experience building senior client and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn ambiguity into practical recommendations.
- Experience managing risks, dependencies and product prioritisation trade-offs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across product, delivery, architecture and engineering teams.
- Experience coaching or mentoring other business analysts.
- Experience sharing knowledge and contributing to professional communities.
- Willingness to travel and work from office or client locations for at least two days per week, depending on project requirements.

Required Skills
- Experience establishing an identity-focused business analysis framework or competency matrix within a growing consultancy practice.
- Exposure to fraud prevention approaches, zero-trust network architectures and wider cyber security environments.
Pay range and compensation package
- Salary: £81,400–£92,000 per annum
