About The Role
The Health Research Authority (HRA), a key part of NHS, is seeking a highly skilled Lead Business Analyst to spearhead its digital transformation initiatives. This pivotal role involves setting strategic direction for business analysis activities, leading a team of Business Analysts, and working collaboratively across organizational boundaries to deliver customer-centric change. The Lead Business Analyst will play a crucial role in shaping project priorities, ensuring the delivery of value-driven solutions that meet the needs of users, stakeholders, and the organization as a whole.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of balancing high-level oversight with detailed involvement in project execution. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, understanding complex business needs, translating them into actionable requirements, and ensuring that digital solutions align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading large-scale digital transformation projects within a complex organizational environment, particularly within healthcare or public sector settings. You will possess excellent communication skills, stakeholder management expertise, and a deep understanding of digital technologies and methodologies that drive organizational change.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a relevant undergraduate degree or higher qualification in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA (Professional Business Analysis) are highly desirable. Extensive experience in business analysis, particularly within large-scale digital transformation projects, is essential.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, with experience managing and mentoring teams of Business Analysts. A thorough understanding of Agile, Scrum, and other project management methodologies is required, alongside proficiency in requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of healthcare systems, digital health technologies, and NHS operational frameworks will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the business analysis team, setting clear objectives and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Define and implement the strategic direction for business analysis activities across digital transformation projects.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand organizational needs, translating these into detailed requirements and technical specifications.
- Facilitate communication between technical teams, business units, and external partners to ensure alignment and effective delivery of solutions.
- Oversee the development of business cases, process models, and user stories to support project planning and execution.
- Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards, are delivered on time, and provide measurable value to users and the organization.
- Promote best practices in business analysis, including the use of industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and digital innovation within the organization.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, providing regular updates and managing risks proactively.
