Lead Business Analyst – CHAPS Modernisation Programme
We're looking for an experienced Lead Business Analyst to join our CHAPS Modernisation programme within the Payments CIO. This is one of Nationwide's significant payment transformation initiatives, focused on modernising our end-to-end capability across CHAPS outbound, inbound, returns and exception handling processes. Moving the processing from legacy technology onto strategic platforms, we will strengthen resilience, control and scalability and support our move towards direct participation in the Bank of England Real-Time Gross Settlement service.
About the Role
As a Lead Business Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering complex business and technology change, working across multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both business and regulatory objectives. You'll provide leadership and direction across analysis activities, helping to define approaches, drive consistency and maintain high standards of delivery. Alongside your programme responsibilities, you'll coach and support other Business Analysts, influencing the development of capability across the wider Business Analysis community.

Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
- Work closely with programme and business stakeholders to shape solutions that support our CHAPS Modernisation delivery.
- Lead analysis activities across complex workstreams, ensuring that business needs, impacts, processes and requirements are understood and translated into clear outcomes.
- Provide leadership and guidance to other analysts, promoting best practice and assuring the quality of analysis deliverables across the programme.
- Collaborate with technical, operational and change teams, influencing decisions and helping to navigate complexity to deliver successful business and customer outcomes.

About you
- Strong experience leading business analysis activities within large-scale payments change programmes.
- Working knowledge of high-value and international payments, including payment flows, SWIFT and ISO 20022 messaging, indirect and direct settlement models, and associated liquidity considerations.
- Proven experience defining, managing and assuring complex business requirements, business processes, impacts and solution options throughout the change lifecycle.
- Experience shaping and planning operating model changes across multiple transition states, ensuring business impacts, processes and dependencies are clearly understood and managed.
- Demonstrable experience leading, coaching or mentoring Business Analysts and driving high-quality analysis standards across a team or programme.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with experience influencing senior business and technology stakeholders.
