About The Role

What You'll Do

As the Lead Business Change Manager you will:

  • Manage and coordinate a portfolio of business change programmes, ensuring effective benefits realisation, governance, and delivery excellence.
  • The role has a strong programme control focus, encompassing change control, project planning, and the creation of high-quality, data-driven management reporting.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice to enhance project and programme management capability.
  • Act as PMO across a portfolio of priority workstreams.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, drive accountability, support successful delivery against plans, and help embed a culture of continuous improvement and inclusive ways of working.

  • Strong business change, governance, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex programmes and support the successful delivery of strategic outcomes.
  • Commitment to ensuring that change initiatives deliver measurable benefits through effective planning, performance tracking, and programme assurance.
  • Key strength in building trusted relationships and working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Development of inclusive engagement and communication strategies that encourage collaboration, build confidence in change, and support colleagues throughout the transformation journey.
  • Proactive approach to managing risks, resolving challenges, and maintaining accountability to keep delivery on track.
  • Results-focused and commercially aware, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong governance, data-driven insights, and a commitment to continuous improvement to help embed sustainable change and realise long-term business benefits.

This vacancy is Band 2B, salary starting £71,163 rising to £86,801 (DOE).

Key Accountabilities

Your experience and skills

  • Identify, plan and track the business benefits and outcomes required of the business change programme.
  • Provide programme assurance and overview of the benefits realisation plan.
  • Confirm that projects will contribute to the realisation of benefits, making sure no overlap exists between individually owned profiles.
  • Establish and maintain business ownership of benefits profiles and the benefits realisation plan.
  • Assess and manage risks to benefits realisation and stakeholder engagement and address potential issues and concerns.
  • Create and implement stakeholder management strategies and persuade internal and external stakeholders of the agenda for change; setting realistic expectations on both the benefits and drawbacks of specific changes.
  • Create and implement communications strategies and plans.
  • Prepare affected business area for transition to business as usual, developing strategies to protect the investment and transition by engaging relevant stakeholders.

Essential

  • Senior project manager with an excellent track record of delivering large scale business change within a complex blue-chip business or government function
  • Extensive experience in defining, tracking and delivering business benefit in change management initiatives
  • Results orientation, with a passion for delivery
  • Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to use influence to gain buy in to enable change to happen
  • Commercial awareness
  • An ability to work well under pressure in a rapidly evolving environment

Desirable

  • Experience of working across business functions to deliver multi-million business benefits
  • Experience of managing people in a change resistant and complex business environment
  • Budget management
