Do you want to combine management consulting with the opportunity to build a team and shape a growing business?

NIRAS is looking for an experienced Lead Business Consultant to strengthen and further develop our management consulting offering across Process Industry.

You will work with clients at the intersection of strategy, operations, supply chain and capital investment, helping them make well-informed decisions about the future of their production and business.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to clients and the business, while also being motivated by building something: developing our offering, growing client relationships and building a strong consulting team. You will bring a strategic, commercial and analytical perspective that complements our strong engineering capabilities and helps turn complex challenges into practical solutions.

About the role

As Lead Business Consultant, you will play a key role in developing, selling and delivering business consulting assignments across Process Industry. You will lead the Business Consulting Core Team and help ensure that our consulting capabilities become an integrated part of larger client engagements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and strengthening our business consulting offering and go-to-market approach including supply chain optimisation, feasibility studies, masterplanning, manufacturing footprint optimisation, cost-to-operate analysis and business case development
  • Identifying and developing new consulting opportunities with clients
  • Building and leading a strong consulting team, starting with two direct reports
  • Supporting sales teams and project leaders in shaping and winning projects
  • Leading complex consulting assignments from scoping and analysis to recommendations and implementation planning
  • Facilitating strategic discussions with senior client stakeholders
  • Bringing together commercial, operational and technical expertise from across NIRAS
  • Developing consulting frameworks, tools, sales materials and client cases

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who you are

You are an experienced consultant who combines strategic thinking, analytical rigour and commercial drive with the ability to create clarity and direction in complex business challenges.

You do not need to be an engineer. What matters is your ability to understand complex businesses, engage confidently with senior clients and work effectively with technical specialists to connect strategy, operations, financials and engineering.

We imagine that you bring:

  • 5+ years of experience from management consulting, business consulting or an internal consulting role
  • Experience leading consulting assignments and engaging with senior client stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous and complex challenges
  • Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience with business development, scoping and proposal development
  • A good understanding of operational and financial drivers, including business cases and investment analysis
  • The ability to build trusted client relationships and collaborate across disciplines, countries and organisational boundaries
  • A relevant university degree

Experience from food & beverage, manufacturing, process industries, supply chain, operational excellence or other capital-intensive businesses is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Why NIRAS?

At NIRAS, you will have the opportunity to help build something rather than step into a fixed consulting model. You will become part of a multidisciplinary and international organisation where management consulting sits alongside deep technical and industry expertise. This allows you to work on complex client challenges and bring together perspectives that go beyond traditional management consulting.

You will have real influence on how we develop our consulting business, team and capabilities, in a culture that values collaboration, professional curiosity and autonomy.
