Lead Chef / Cook Room Lead

About the Lead Chef / Cook Room Lead job

The purpose of your role is to prepare and cook high volumes of ingredients to the highest quality standards, following established recipes and production requirements. You will use a range of cooking equipment, including fixed and tilt vessels and stock pots, while ensuring consistency, quality and food safety throughout the process.

Key tasks

  • Prepare and cook food to the required quality and production standards, while monitoring and checking the work of the wider cook team.
  • Support the cooking team, taking a proactive role in maintaining consistently high standards of food quality.
  • Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment, supporting with general cleaning duties as required.
  • Transfer raw materials from chilled, frozen and ambient storage areas to the cook house, and accurately record and manage stock movements.

About You

The successful candidate shall have at least 2 years’ experience as a Chef, ideally within a food manufacturing or production environment.

  • Experience working with bulk recipes and batch cooking, including 100–500kg batches and managing multiple batches throughout daily production.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems and tablets to monitor raw materials, complete stock transfers and maintain accurate production records.

The site is in the Leicestershire area and is commutable from Wigston, Oadby, Birstall, Anstey, Loughborough, Leicester, Coalville, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, Ashby De La Zouch and surrounding areas.

The working hours are 5 days per week 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm. Flexibility is required as some weekends may be necessary with a weekday off in lieu.
