Company Overview
Biosus Energy Ltd is a forward-thinking leader in distributed onsite power generation. We are seeking a highly motivated, dual-focused hands-on Lead CHP Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition to clean, renewable energy by ensuring our projects and customer-sited plants operate at peak efficiency and optimum availability.
Role Overview
In this senior, hybrid role, you will balance 60% hands-on site maintenance, optimization, and engineering with a plan down the line to focus on 40% maintenance planning, systems development, and reliability strategy. You will take ownership of the optimal uptime and asset lifecycle of our Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants, operating primarily between Mintlaw and Buckie, with occasional travel to Perth & Lanark.
Our diverse infrastructure features modern, advanced technologies: our Mintlaw site utilizes advanced wood gasification, while our Buckie facility is gas-powered. Beyond executing high-quality mechanical repairs and advanced troubleshooting, you will lead the implementation of our eMaint CMMS, spearhead root-cause analysis (RCA), and build our Dave AI knowledge base to institutionalise engineering excellence. Aim to drive the organisation to ISO55001 Asset Management standard.
Key Responsibilities
Site Execution & Operations (60%)
- Advanced Engineering Support: Travel between sites in Mintlaw, Buckie, and occasionally Perth to execute high-quality mechanical repairs and routine servicing.
- Plant Optimization: Monitor plant operations and indicators closely to ensure heavy industrial equipment, large reciprocating engines, and auxiliary systems run at peak safety and efficiency.
- Operational Control: Start, stop, and adjust generators, auxiliary pumping equipment, compressors, condensers, and filtration systems as required.
- Shutdown Leadership: Form a core part of the shutdown team, managing complex overhauls and minor field repairs (e.g., pipe joints, glands, and alignments).
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to company health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring a clean, secure, and compliant working environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
