Ably Resources are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join an established engineering organisation involved in the delivery of major power infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is a senior position suited to a Civil Engineer with experience within the power transmission and distribution sector, particularly HV/EHV substations.
You will take responsibility for civil engineering activities across a portfolio of substation projects, supporting projects from early design and tender stages through to construction and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading civil and structural engineering activities on HV/EHV substation projects
- Reviewing civil designs, drawings, calculations and technical documentation
- Providing technical input across foundations, structures, buildings, drainage, roads and associated infrastructure
- Coordinating with electrical and other engineering disciplines
- Supporting site and construction teams with technical queries and design issues
- Reviewing contractor and supplier technical submissions
- Supporting tendering and the development of project specifications
- Ensuring engineering work meets relevant UK standards and project requirements
- Supporting project schedules, costs, risks and design changes

About You
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong civil and structural engineering experience
- Previous experience within power substations, transmission or distribution projects
- Experience reviewing civil designs, drawings and calculations
- Good knowledge of UK engineering and construction standards
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong technical, communication and leadership skills
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous.

This is a permanent opportunity offering the chance to take a lead role on significant UK power infrastructure projects within a growing and technically focused engineering environment.
