Lead Cloud Network Engineer (AWS Terraform) London / WFH

About the Role
As a Lead Cloud Network Engineer you'll lead the design, delivery and troubleshooting of AWS cloud networking, with a strong focus on reliability, resilience and security. You'll design highly available network architectures across VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, Route 53, security groups and NACLs, while embedding segmentation, least privilege access and threat protection by design.
Collaborating with Cyber Security, you'll implement and continuously improve cloud network security controls, monitoring and architecture. You'll also design and maintain secure hybrid connectivity between AWS, Azure and on-premises datacentres, with strong observability, monitoring and capacity planning across the wider network estate.

Infrastructure as Code and automation will be central to the role. You'll build reusable Terraform modules and patterns, develop CI/CD pipelines for network provisioning and change management and automate repeatable operational tasks.
You'll help define cloud networking standards and best practice, mentor engineers and work closely with DevOps, Platform and wider technology teams to deliver robust, scalable infrastructure.
Location / WFH
You'll be based in fantastic offices in a vibrant area of London with in-house gym and steam room, games room with pool tables and dart boards, library and free high quality catering (breakfast, lunch, dinner) from the onsite chef with flexibility to work from home once a week (please note that during probation you will be required onsite five days a week).
About You
- You have in-depth AWS networking expertise including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, Route 53, security groups and NACLs
- You have achieved an AWS Advanced Networking Specialty certification (or are working towards it)
- You have strong Infrastructure as Code skills, Terraform including modules, state management, workspaces
- You're a technical leader, happy to set the direction and mentor others
- You have experience of designing for reliability and resilience: HA, failover, disaster recovery
- You have a good working knowledge of Network security including segmentation, least privilege access, secure connectivity, threat protection
- You have strong automation and CI/CD experience, provisioning, pipelines, network tooling
- You have a good knowledge of Routing and Switching (BGP), VPNs (IPSec, SSL), Network Monitoring and Observability
- You're collaborative and pragmatic, able to push back where necessary
