About Us
London Bulls Academy is a community interest company delivering structured basketball training to children aged 4 to 16 across South and East London. We run around 19 hours of training each week across five venues (Canary Wharf College, George Green's School, Canada Water, In2Sport and Eltham College), Tuesday to Saturday, with games on Sundays.
As a CIC, everything we do is built around community benefit. We keep high-quality coaching accessible to young people from every background, and we care as much about confidence, teamwork and belonging as we do about jump shots.
The Role
We're looking for a Lead Coach to plan and deliver training sessions, and to help raise the standard of coaching across the academy.
We run roughly 19 hours of training per week across all venues, and some sessions overlap, so no single coach covers everything. This role is for up to 12 hours of coaching per week, plus Sunday games, with your specific sessions agreed around your availability and location.
What you'll do
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate training sessions for children aged 4 to 16
- Lead drills, small-sided games and skill development suited to each age group
- Track player progress and adapt sessions to the group in front of you
- Mentor and support assistant coaches
- Coach at Sunday games and represent the academy on game days
- Communicate clearly with parents and caregivers
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and well-organised environment
- Lead and support holiday camps, events and community outreach

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Demonstrable basketball coaching experience with children and young people
- A recognised basketball or sports coaching qualification
- Enhanced DBS certificate with children's barred list check (or willingness to obtain one, this post is subject to it)
- Up-to-date safeguarding training, or willingness to complete it before starting
- Confident group management, with genuine skill at keeping young children engaged
- Clear, warm communication with children, parents and colleagues
- Availability for weekday evenings, Saturdays and Sunday games
- Reliability: parents plan their weeks around our sessions
Desirable
- Experience mentoring or leading other coaches
- First aid certification
- Experience coaching across a wide age range, including under 7s
- Based near one of our venue clusters (Isle of Dogs / Canada Water)
- Playing background at club level or above
