Lead Commercial Auditor
Location: Buttershaw, Bradford (Hybrid - typically 2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £54,024 - £67,530 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Commercial Auditor to join a leading commercial assurance team, playing a key role in delivering contract audit and commercial assurance activities across a significant capital delivery and procurement programme.
This position offers the chance to work closely with commercial, procurement and project delivery teams, providing assurance that contractual arrangements are being adhered to, identifying opportunities to reduce value leakage, and helping drive greater commercial efficiency across the organisation.
The successful candidate will lead contract audit reviews, undertake detailed supplier and spend analysis, and work alongside both internal stakeholders and external audit partners to deliver a robust commercial assurance programme.
Your new role
- Deliver commercial contract audits to ensure supplier costs and claims align with contractual terms and conditions.
- Support the delivery of the annual commercial assurance and audit plan.
- Define audit scopes and objectives through engagement with key stakeholders and business partners.
- Conduct detailed cost, spend and pricing schedule analysis to identify discrepancies, trends and areas of risk.
- Identify commercial control weaknesses, contractual non-compliance and opportunities for cost recovery or improved value.
- Produce high-quality audit reports supported by clear evidence and recommendations.
- Work closely with commercial, procurement and capital delivery teams to discuss findings and agree corrective actions.
- Liaise with external audit partners to support the effective delivery of audit programmes.
- Analyse supplier performance and commercial data to identify financial risks, opportunities and emerging trends.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a strong commercial, auditing or quantity surveying background with the ability to analyse complex contractual arrangements and provide commercially focused recommendations.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as MCIPS or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Experience leading and managing your own audit programme or assurance reviews.
- Strong commercial awareness and contract management understanding.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to investigations and reporting.
- Knowledge of audit methodologies, controls and assurance processes.

Desirable Experience:
- Experience operating within a commercial, procurement, infrastructure, utilities or construction environment.
- Knowledge of NEC4 ECC and Alliance Contract Forms.
- Background in commercial assurance, forensic cost auditing, quantity surveying or contract compliance.
