Lead Commissioning Engineer

GE Vernova is looking for an exceptional Lead Commissioning Engineer to join our Commissioning team based in the United Kingdom.

GE Vernova - The Energy to Change the World

With over 130 years of experience and proven innovation, GE Vernova is leading a new era of energy. We are electrifying the world while working to decarbonize it. Our name reflects our mission. “GE” carries a legacy of quality and ingenuity. “Ver” signals Earth’s lush ecosystems, while “Nova” nods to a new era of lower-carbon energy we are helping to deliver.

Focused on the future, GE Vernova is accelerating the shift to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. We help customers power economies and deliver electricity vital to health, safety, and quality of life.

Electrification

Our Electrification solutions modernize grids, enable renewable integration, and strengthen energy systems. From software to power conversion and storage, we help create smarter, more resilient energy networks.

Let’s Talk about the Role

The Lead Commissioning Engineer will oversee and execute all technical, construction, and commissioning activities on customer sites, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery from site mobilisation through to final handover.

In this role, you will take ownership of the full commissioning lifecycle, coordinating civil works, erection activities, and system commissioning while ensuring all work meets GE Vernova’s standards for safety, quality, and performance. You will operate with a balance of autonomy and structured guidance, adapting procedures where needed to achieve the required outcomes in terms of quality, timeliness, and volume. Acting as a key technical leader on site, you will manage day-to-day operations, interface with customers, and drive successful execution across multidisciplinary teams. Your contribution will be essential in delivering complex projects reliably and efficiently, supporting both customer satisfaction and organisational excellence.

Your Impact

  • Promote and uphold a strong site safety culture by modelling safe working practices and ensuring all commissioning activities comply with GE Vernova EHS standards.
  • Lead the testing and commissioning of substation equipment, delivering all activities efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in strict alignment with approved quality processes.
  • Manage and direct daily commissioning resources on site, ensuring clear work allocation, effective coordination, and maximum productivity to support successful project delivery.
  • Prepare, issue, and maintain all required site documentation—including RAMS, NCRs, and TQs—ensuring full compliance with established procedures and transparent communication of deviations.
  • Act as the LV Authorised Person (Advanced), applying GE Low Voltage Safe Systems of Work procedures and demonstrating expert technical judgement during incidents or complex site conditions.
  • Serve as a key technical leader by resolving commissioning challenges independently, supporting minor upgrades, and providing clear, timely communication to Site Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Organise and execute commissioning activities to agreed programmes, applying company policies effectively while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
