Lead Consultant Dermatologist – Service Development & Clinical Lead
Location: East Surrey/South London
Working Pattern: Flexible / Hybrid
Initial Commitment: Approximately 4 hours per week
Start: October 2026
Are you a Consultant Dermatologist looking for an opportunity to do something a little different alongside your existing clinical commitments?
Compass Associates are working with a growing healthcare organisation that is developing a new dermatology service across Surrey. We are looking for a Lead Consultant Dermatologist to play a key role in shaping the service from the outset, before moving into ongoing clinical delivery as the pathway launches.
This is a particularly exciting opportunity for a Consultant who enjoys service development, innovation and clinical leadership, and would like the opportunity to influence how a new dermatology pathway is designed and delivered.
The Opportunity
During the initial mobilisation and design phase, you will work closely with the organisation's clinical, mobilisation and innovation teams to help develop the dermatology pathway and ensure the service is clinically robust, practical and patient focused.
The initial commitment is expected to average approximately 4 hours per week, with considerable flexibility around how those hours are structured. This could include shorter meetings and project work spread throughout the week rather than requiring a fixed four-hour clinical block.

As the service develops and patient activity increases, the role will evolve from pathway design into ongoing clinical leadership and service delivery, with the opportunity for the commitment to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical input into the development of the new dermatology pathway.
- Help shape clinical pathways, processes and service delivery models.
- Work collaboratively with the wider clinical, mobilisation and innovation teams.
- Support the development of appropriate governance and clinical standards.
- Contribute to the development of the MDT model.
- Provide ongoing clinical leadership as the dermatology service launches.
- Participate in clinical delivery as patient volumes increase.
- Help develop a high-quality, efficient and patient-centred dermatology service.
What We Are Looking For
We would particularly like to speak with Consultant Dermatologists who are:
- GMC registered and on the Specialist Register for Dermatology.
- Currently working at Consultant level within Dermatology.
- Interested in clinical leadership and service development.
- Innovative and comfortable contributing ideas to a developing service.
- Collaborative, adaptable and comfortable working within a growing organisation.
- Able to commit approximately four hours per week during the initial development phase.
- Interested in developing their private-sector experience alongside existing NHS or other clinical commitments.

Previous experience designing pathways or developing new services would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
The organisation is particularly open to speaking with newer Consultants who are looking to develop their leadership and private healthcare experience.
Working Arrangements
The role will initially involve some face-to-face engagement in Surrey while relationships and the pathway are established, moving towards a more flexible hybrid working model as the service develops.
The hours are highly flexible and can be arranged around existing NHS and private practice commitments.
