Job Description
The Workday Accounting Center Functional Lead / Specialist is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting Workday Accounting Center solutions to enable accurate, scalable, and auditable accounting for operational and non-Workday source systems.
Your Role
As a Workday Accounting Center professional, you will:
- Act as the functional SME for Workday Accounting Center
- Design and implement event-driven accounting frameworks
- Translate business events into accounting entries aligned with GAAP/IFRS
- Partner closely with Accounting, Finance Ops, and Technical Integration teams
- Support close, reconciliation, audit, and compliance outcomes
You will ensure accounting accuracy while enabling automation, scalability, and reduced manual journal entries.
Responsibilities
Own functional design for Workday Accounting Center, including:
- Accounting rules and rule sets
- Accounting event types and templates
- Journal mappings and ledger postings
- Balances, reconciliation, and drill-down reporting
- Translate business and operational transactions into accounting logic
- Design scalable accounting frameworks supporting high transaction volumes
- Ensure alignment with corporate accounting policies and compliance standards
- Configure Accounting Center components including:
- Sources, source keys, and accounting events
- Accounting rules, condition logic, and dimensions
- Ledger accounts, work tags, and posting configurations
- Partner with Integration teams to map inbound data from source systems
- Ensure data accuracy, traceability, and auditability
- Review and validate configuration completed by partners or analysts

Required
- 6+ years of experience in implementing Workday Accounting Center
- Experience in configuring Workday Accounting Center rules and events
- Familiarity with Workday Financials data model and worktags
Preferred
- Workday Certification in Accounting Center
- Experience in integrating upstream operational systems (Billing, CRM, POS, etc.)
- Knowledge of SOX, audit controls, and compliance frameworks
- Experience with high-volume transaction environments
