The Opportunity
Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.
PPP is an exciting model to work in with Four world class organisations who have come together as one team, to create a clean and safe environment for future generations. The programme arrangement is set to deliver ~£7bn worth of major projects creating a lasting legacy through the long-term partnerships.

The Project
The Lightly Shielded Store 1 (LSS1) Project. LSS1 is a 7200m2 footprint major project new build on the Sellafield site. It will be a new class of Intermediate Level Waste store for Sellafield with a design life of 100 years. The project is heading towards Outline Business Case (OBC) gate and also undertaking Preliminary Design activities.
The Role
LSS1 now has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Lead Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join the team in Warrington.
Responsibilities
As a Lead C&I Engineer your responsibilities could include:
- Lead the development and delivery of Control & Instrumentation engineering solutions across all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to commissioning and handover.
- Lead the delivery of all Control & Instrumentation engineering activities within the project, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, fit for purpose and delivered to requirements.
- Act as the discipline lead for C&I engineering, providing leadership, governance and strategic direction to the project team.
- Manage and coordinate a team of C&I engineers and designers, ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet project objectives.
- Lead the production, review and approval of C&I engineering deliverables in accordance with project procedures, client requirements and applicable standards.
- Oversee the design and integration of control systems, instrumentation systems, functional safety systems, PLC-based systems and associated plant interfaces.
- Provide technical leadership to supply chain partners, reviewing supplier designs and ensuring compliance with project and client requirements.
- Ensure effective multidisciplinary integration with electrical, mechanical, process, civil, commissioning and construction teams through collaborative design reviews and BIM processes.

Requirements
As a Lead C&I Engineer you will already have:
- BEng/MEng degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by an HNC/HND qualification.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or demonstrable ability to achieve Chartered status in the near term.
- Experience in leading C&I engineering teams and delivering complex engineering projects within Nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
- Demonstrable experience acting as a discipline lead for major engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of control systems, instrumentation systems, functional safety principles and relevant industry standards.
