🚀 Lead Cyber Essentials Assessor | £45,000 – £55,000 | Remote (occasional on-site client work)
As a Lead Cyber Essentials Assessor, you'll take ownership of delivering high-quality Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments, ensuring organisations meet the required security standards and can demonstrate robust cyber hygiene. You'll act as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through the certification process, interpreting technical controls, and helping them achieve and maintain compliance with confidence.
This role combines hands-on assessment delivery with client engagement and quality assurance, making it ideal for someone who can balance technical understanding with pragmatic risk-based decision-making. There is also an opportunity to broaden into penetration testing engagements over time, depending on your interests and development goals.

🎯 Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments in line with scheme requirements
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through certification from initial scoping to final submission
- Review and validate client evidence, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IASME standards
- Conduct technical verification activities for Cyber Essentials Plus assessments, including vulnerability validation and control testing
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to clients on remediation requirements and certification outcomes
- Ensure all assessments are delivered to a high standard, within agreed timelines, and in line with scheme quality requirements
- Mentor and support junior assessors, reviewing their work to maintain consistency and quality
- Stay up to date with Cyber Essentials scheme updates, evolving threats, and best practices
- Collaborate with wider cybersecurity teams, with the option to support or transition into penetration testing engagements where appropriate

🛠️ Skills/Must Have:
- Certified Lead Cyber Essentials Assessor (IASME) – non-negotiable
- Proven experience delivering Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessments
- Strong understanding of the Cyber Essentials control framework and practical implementation across modern IT environments (cloud, hybrid, SME infrastructure)
- Experience reviewing technical controls such as firewalls, endpoint security, patching, access control, and secure configuration
- Ability to interpret technical evidence and make risk-based certification decisions
- Experience engaging directly with clients, including advising on remediation and certification readiness
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to lead engagements, manage multiple assessments, and maintain high quality standards

⭐ Desirable (not essential):
- Exposure to penetration testing or vulnerability assessment
- Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CREST, or similar
- Broader experience in cybersecurity, risk, or compliance functions
