About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cyber Security Consultant to join Actica Consulting. In this pivotal role, you will lead multiple small project teams, providing expert guidance and strategic direction across a variety of high-profile UK public sector and defense projects. Your leadership will enable our clients to safeguard their ICT investments and ensure the secure delivery of critical systems.
This position offers the opportunity to work on nationally significant initiatives, influencing security architectures, risk management, and compliance standards. You will engage directly with senior stakeholders, manage project deliverables, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business growth by developing new opportunities within our established client base. The role is based in London, Guildford, Bristol, or along the M4 corridor, with flexible working arrangements to suit project needs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in ICT security within the UK Defence or Public Sector, demonstrating a strong technical background and consulting expertise. Relevant qualifications include, but are not limited to, certifications such as CISSP, ISO27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, SABSA, TOGAF, or equivalent. Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of security frameworks like HMG SPF and ISO27001, enterprise architecture methodologies such as TOGAF and SABSA, and technical risk assessment techniques.

Experience with security tools, software development methodologies like Agile (Scrum), and familiarity with security enforcement technologies including cryptography, identity management, firewalls, SIEM, and vulnerability scanning are highly desirable. Eligibility for UK Government Security Clearance is a mandatory requirement.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Cyber Security Consultant, your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of strategic and operational tasks. You will lead one or more project teams, overseeing the delivery of security consultancy assignments that may include developing security architectures, advising on Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), and supporting secure system development and accreditation processes.
Your key duties include:
- Providing expert advice on major system procurements and Agile programs to ensure security best practices
- Identifying and evaluating information risks, and communicating potential impacts to stakeholders
- Authoring or supporting the creation of security assurance documentation
- Scoping security testing activities, and interpreting testing results to recommend remediation actions
In addition to project delivery, you will manage the performance of security teams across live projects, ensuring contractual and quality standards are met. You will collaborate with client-side teams to coordinate project execution, develop compelling proposals for new work, and contribute to the growth of Actica Consulting’s portfolio. Mentoring junior staff and fostering their professional development is also a core aspect of your role, helping to maintain a high-performance team environment. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation for delivering secure, reliable, and innovative solutions to our clients.
