Lead Data Analyst
UK / Fully Remote
Outside IR35
We're working with an established organisation looking for an experienced Lead Data Analyst to join on a maternity cover contract.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining analytics, technical oversight, stakeholder management, and team leadership. You'll take responsibility for a portfolio of ongoing projects, working with a team of analysts to turn complex business challenges into effective analytical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple analytics projects and workstreams
- Manage and support a small team of analysts, setting priorities, allocating work, and reviewing output
- Translate complex and loosely defined business problems into clear analytical approaches
- Review technical and analytical work across SQL, dbt, Python, KPI definitions, and dashboards
- Ensure analysis answers the underlying business question and produces clear, actionable recommendations
- Work closely with senior stakeholders, communicating findings and recommendations clearly
- Collaborate with data engineering teams on data modelling, architecture, and implementation
- Provide hands-on support with complex analysis, technical problem-solving, and quality assurance
- Manage delivery across priorities, capacity, timelines, quality, and risk
- Support the scoping and estimation of additional work where required

Key Experience
- Strong commercial experience at Lead Data Analyst, Principal Analyst, or Analytics Manager level
- Proven experience leading analysts and reviewing analytical and technical work
- Advanced SQL skills
- Strong hands-on experience with dbt
- Strong understanding of data modelling
- Experience working with cloud data warehouses and modern BI tools
- Working knowledge of Python, with the ability to understand and review analytical work
- Strong experience using data to solve commercial and product problems
- Experience managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously
- Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders
- Strong analytical judgement and ability to challenge proposed approaches
- Ability to work independently and get up to speed quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Previous consultancy or client-facing experience
- Experience working across complex analytics and data environments
- Exposure to LLMs, AI workflows, or machine learning
