About The Role
As our Lead Data Cabling Engineer (Fibre & Copper), you'll install fibre and copper cabling in multi-tenant commercial buildings across London. You'll start with tenant installations: running fibre from the riser into a tenant's demise, then installing the network hardware, wireless access points and other devices that connect to it.
From there, you'll take on full building deployments. Our buildings typically have fibre running from a comms cabinet in the basement to splice boxes in the risers on each floor, all labelled and branded.
You'll test, label and document every installation, train the junior engineers who work alongside you, and report to our Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Installing, terminating and testing fibre optic and copper (Cat6/Cat6A) cabling
- Running fibre from riser splice boxes into tenant demises
- Installing building fibre from basement comms cabinets to splice boxes in the risers on each floor, labelled and branded to our standard
- Installing and patching network hardware such as switches, routers and firewalls (no configuration required, and we'll train you on the kit)
- Installing wireless access points and other network-connected devices
- Dressing, labelling and finishing every installation to an exceptional standard
- Testing every installation and completing the documentation for it
- Training and developing junior engineers, who will work alongside you on site
- Working with our external cabling partners on larger jobs
- Keeping sites safe, clean and tidy

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
