Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Lead Data Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary feature team delivering data products end-to-end — from initial design through build, testing, governance and go-live — on a modern cloud data platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a purely managerial one; the successful candidate will set technical direction, coach engineers, and remain close to the code and architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and technically direct a feature team of data engineers delivering data products end-to-end.
- Own delivery from ODP (source/data) selection through design, development, testing, validation, governance, deployment and go-live.
- Drive engineering best practice: code quality, testing standards, CI/CD and DevOps discipline within the team.
- Apply AI-enabled approaches to accelerate data development and testing where appropriate.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the feature team, escalating risks and dependencies early.
- Contribute to data architecture and MDM design decisions in partnership with architecture leads.
- Mentor and develop engineers within the team; support onboarding of new team members.

Required Skills & Experience

- Expert-level experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or a comparable cloud data engineering stack.
- Advanced, hands-on experience with dbt, Python and SQL for data engineering.
- Strong data modelling and ETL/ELT design experience.
- Proven track record delivering data products end-to-end in a production environment.
- Experience with testing, data validation and quality assurance frameworks.
- Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts, integration and implementation.
- DevOps, CI/CD and deployment/governance experience in a regulated or enterprise environment.
- Demonstrable experience leading or technically directing a team of engineers.
