Data Engineering Lead, Bristol
A FTSE-listed business based in central Bristol is investing heavily in its data future and is looking for a Data Engineering Lead to take ownership of it.
They're the UK leader in their sector, housing over 70,000 people across 23 cities, and they're in the middle of a major technical transformation. That includes a data warehouse to Databricks migration, a SaaS migration and wider business integration, and this role sits right at the centre of all of it.
This isn't a lead role where you manage a backlog and never touch code again. You'll lead and grow a talented team of Data Engineers, set the technical direction for the platform, and still get your hands dirty on the hardest engineering problems. If you want real influence over a lakehouse build at enterprise scale, with the backing to do it properly, this is it.

3 Days per week in the Office, based in Central Bristol.
Responsibilities:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Data Engineers.
- Owning the migration from the existing data warehouse to Databricks.
- Shaping data strategy and influencing key technology decisions.
- Designing scalable pipelines, models, and curated datasets for BI, analytics, and data science.
- Championing engineering best practice across testing, deployment, monitoring, and code review.

Necessary experience:
- Leading Data Engineering teams in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on Databricks, Spark, and lakehouse architecture.
- Strong SQL and Python.
- Building and running modern cloud data platforms.
- Bonus points for data migration, M&A data integration, Tableau, or SnapLogic.
