Are you an experienced designer who enjoys being both hands-on with projects and supporting a design team?
At Box Productions, we’re the crew behind the curtain making live events and retail spaces look incredible. From jaw-dropping scenic builds and technical set ups to seamless installations, we bring big ideas to life - and we’re pretty great at it.
We’re looking for a Lead Designer to join Box Productions, taking a key role in delivering high-quality, technically achievable design solutions across our projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong technical design skills with leadership ability and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading, supporting and developing a small Design team, helping manage workloads, priorities and deadlines.
- Taking design projects from initial brief through to final production information.
- Producing and reviewing accurate technical drawings, visuals and manufacturing information.
- Providing technical guidance on materials, construction, manufacture and installation.
- Working closely with Project Management and Workshop/Production teams to ensure projects are delivered effectively, on time and to the required standard.
- Maintaining and improving documentation and design standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve design processes, systems and ways of working.

What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in events, exhibition, interiors, construction or a related design environment.
- Strong technical design and CAD/CAM skills, with experience producing technical drawings.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
- Previous experience of supporting, mentoring or supervising other designers.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues, clients and suppliers.
- A practical, hands-on approach and a good understanding of what makes a design work in manufacture and installation.
- Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can lead from the front - comfortable providing direction and support to the team while still getting stuck into the design work yourself when needed.
