Summary

What To Expect

Lead Developers will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting our internal applications and providing technical expertise, leadership, and strategic direction. As a team member working as part of the Engineering team, this role will help deliver new applications and services as we modernise our trading platforms, making them vastly better for Postmasters and Customers.

You will be working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business and embedding best practices aligned to our strategic goals.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Principal Accountabilities

As a Lead Developer, you will be well-versed in the below:

  • Provide technical leadership in designing and developing cloud-native applications and microservices.
  • Drive best practices in coding, architecture, security, and performance.
  • Act as a mentor and coach, supporting and upskilling the development team.
  • Lead code reviews, architectural discussions, and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams to ensure timely, high-quality deliveries.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and product teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Ensure applications meet performance, security, and scalability standards.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and technical roadmaps.
  • Line management experience

Knowledge, Experience And Skills

  • Extensive experience in multiple programming languages: Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, and working knowledge of Go, NodeJS.
  • Experience with React (React Native is a plus).
  • Proven expertise with cloud-native application development and microservices architecture.
  • Proven expertise working with Agile methodologies and best software development practices.
  • Strong grasp of automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong grasp of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Deep understanding of API protocols, database structures, and IT security practices.
  • Proven expertise with DevOps practices and modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong leadership experience in technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Use AI tools correctly & safely to increase productivity and output within the team.
