Lead Developer – Power Platform (12 month FTC)

About The Role

At West Northants Council, it’s about our people and the difference they make. As a Lead Developer (Power Platform), you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering innovative digital solutions that improve services for residents, businesses and colleagues across the organisation. Working within our Digital Technology & Innovation team, you'll help drive digital transformation by designing and building secure, user-focused applications and automation solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team at a time when digital innovation is playing an increasingly important role in how the Council delivers services. You'll have the chance to influence technical direction, champion best practice and support the growth of our Power Platform capability while working on projects that have a real impact on the communities we serve.

We recognise the value of flexibility while also maintaining collaboration and team connectivity. This role follows a hybrid working model, with the successful candidate expected to work from our offices approximately two days per week, alongside remote working.

What will you be doing?

  • You'll lead the design, development and implementation of enterprise-grade solutions using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and supporting Azure services.
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the Council, you'll translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, providing expertise throughout the full development lifecycle from discovery and design through to deployment and ongoing support.
  • As a technical lead, you'll help define standards, governance and best practice for Power Platform development, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and sustainable.
  • You'll work with APIs, databases and integrations, helping services make better use of their data while improving efficiency and customer experience.
  • You'll also play a key role in developing colleagues, providing coaching and mentoring to other developers and acting as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders.
  • Through collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, you'll help shape the future of digital services across West Northamptonshire.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
