Lead Document Controller – Maternity Cover
Location: Open to all office locations – London, Bristol, Manchester, Leiston, Ipswich, Gloucester. Hybrid working
Contract: Fixed-Term contract (12 months)
Salary: Competitive

About the Role
Leading a team of Document Controllers, you will drive document and records management best practice across major Sizewell C projects and contracts. Working closely with project teams, stakeholders, and suppliers, you will ensure documentation is controlled, compliant, and delivered efficiently throughout the project lifecycle. You will champion high standards of document management, support regulatory requirements, and help ensure information is managed effectively through Teamcenter and other project systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, issue, and distribute controlled information, ensuring records remain up to date and readily available to project teams.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure compliance with document management processes, procedures, and best practice.
- Liaise with project teams, contractors, and suppliers regarding document issuance, control, and storage.
- Carry out conformance checks on documents and drawings to ensure compliance with required formats and statuses.
- Support Project Managers in maintaining compliant and structured hard copy and electronic filing systems.
- Assist Project Managers with project close-out documentation and archiving activities.
- Identify and implement document management lessons learned from Hinkley Point C and wider industry experience.
- Manage the day-to-day activities and performance of a team of Document Controllers.

Knowledge & Skills
- Proven experience as a Lead Document Controller, or in a similar role, within a project environment managing engineering documentation, records, and data using an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
- Experience in major project document, records, and information management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook); experience with Adobe Acrobat is desirable.
- Experience within a technical or engineering environment is beneficial.
- Strong organizational and workload management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and work under pressure.
- Self-motivated team player with an understanding of how their role influences wider project delivery and team performance.
- Good understanding of electronic file formats and the importance of accurate document control and referencing.
- Strong people management skills and experience leading document control teams.
- Able to champion document management best practice, supporting practical solutions while remaining open to alternative ideas and approaches.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience using Teamcenter Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS).
- Knowledge and understanding of the nuclear industry and nuclear site license requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with project teams and supply chain organizations.
- Experience implementing and managing document, records, and information management processes, methodologies, and tools within major projects.
- Understanding and practical application of quality processes relevant to document management.

Desirable
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and GSR Part 2 standards within a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of highly regulated industry environments.
- Nuclear industry knowledge.
- Previous responsibility for leading or supervising small teams of Document Controllers.
