The Vacancy

Structural Soils/PB Drilling part of the RSK Group have an exciting opportunity for a Cable Lead Driller to join our growing team in Wigan, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The role will require you to work all over the UK, sometimes staying away Monday to Friday, with occasional night and weekend work.

Responsibilities:

  • Competently operate a cable drilling rig for site investigation boreholes, including the timely submission of borehole logs
  • Understand and carry out work as instructed to comply with the project specification, including in-situ testing, sampling and installations
  • Understand and work to regulatory and company standards of health, safety, environment and quality
  • Comply with all company policies, industry regulations and specifications
  • Use initiative and experience to overcome challenges on site
  • Maintain good communication with colleagues and clients
  • Work in a tidy and professional manner
  • Inspect, take care of, maintain and report on the drilling rigs, equipment and vehicles that are provided for your use
  • Submit records for SHEQ purposes, such as daily equipment checks.
  • Assistant in minor or basic maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Maintain a full UK driving license, including towing license
  • Complete training and assessments as per company requirements
  • Supervise and train drilling assistants
  • Due to the nature of the business your job description will inevitably change and you will from time to time be required to undertake other activities to meet the needs of the business as directed by your management team.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • CSCS and NVQ Level 2 (Lead Driller) required
  • Flexible approach to the working environment during the various stages of investigations.
  • Flexible approach to shift working hours and occasional weekend working.
  • Although the driller will be based at the location as specified in your contract of employment, the role will require the employee to work away from home (including overnight stays) to meet business needs.
  • You must have a full, UK Driving Licence
