About the role
Take the technical lead on electrical investment projects that help keep some of Britain’s most important gas infrastructure safe, reliable, and resilient.
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you’ll have end-to-end accountability for electrical projects, from definition and design through construction, commissioning, and close-out, ensuring delivery meets safety, technical, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements
Why this role matters
Across our East Region, our compressor stations, Bacton Gas Terminal, and wider operational sites depend on safe and reliable electrical infrastructure. You’ll help protect that performance by delivering investment projects and making sure new and modified assets meet the right technical standards.
It’s an opportunity to combine your electrical expertise with project leadership, influencing designs, solving site challenges, and working with contractors and operational teams to deliver improvements that have a real impact on our network.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
