Electrical Engineering Lead

Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Lead to join a major long-term energy and industrial project based in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled electrical engineering professional to contribute to the design, review, and delivery of complex power systems on a significant programme of work. The role is offered as an initial 12-month contract with the potential for extension and is primarily site-based, with occasional flexibility to work from home a few days each month.

About the Role

As the Electrical Engineering Lead, you will provide technical leadership across electrical power systems, supporting the development, review, and implementation of engineering solutions that meet project, regulatory, and industry standards. You will oversee contractor engineering activities, guide design development, review protection schemes, and ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electrical systems. Key Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years' relevant electrical engineering experience
  • Expertise in power systems, protection schemes, relay selection, UPS and power generation systems
  • Experience delivering engineering solutions within large-scale process, energy, petrochemical, or refining environments
  • Strong knowledge of IEEE, IEC and other relevant industry standards
  • Proven ability to lead technical reviews, manage engineering risk, and oversee contractor design activities

Contract Details

  • Location: Reading
  • Contract: Estimated 12-month duration with extension potential
  • Working Pattern: Fully site-based with occasional home working flexibility
  • IR35 Status: Inside IR35
  • PAYE Rate: £43.17 to £58.46 per hour
  • Umbrella Rate: £56.91 to £75.31 per hour
