Lead Electrician — Rewires, Refurbishments & Commercial Fit-Outs

Future Energy Services (FES) | Work in Surrey, London & the South of England | Subcontract with a clear route to employment

About Us

Future Energy Services is an electrical contracting business on the move, based in Surrey, working across London and the South of England, and growing fast. Our core work is domestic rewires, both occupied and unoccupied, alongside major refurbishment projects and an expanding book of developer and main contractor work.

We built FES around one idea: too many contractors are putting in noncompliant, corner-cut installs and getting away with it. We call our approach the Future Standard, installs done properly, to a standard that actually lasts a lifetime, not just to whatever scrapes past inspection. That’s what’s winning us repeat clients, and it’s what’s driving the growth into refurbishments, commercial fit-outs, and developer relationships.

This is a genuinely exciting time to join. We’re not a big faceless outfit, you’ll have real ownership, real variety, and a direct say in how the standard gets set.

The Role

We’re looking for a qualified electrician ready to step up and run the tools-side of the business. You’ll take full ownership of domestic rewires, occupied and unoccupied, major refurbishments, and commercial fit-out work, start to finish, delivered to the Future Standard.

We need someone we can trust to run a job properly without hand-holding, whether that’s a rewire in someone’s home or a fit-out on a live commercial site.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver full domestic rewires - occupied and unoccupied properties, first fix through to testing and certification.
  • Take on major residential refurbishments and commercial fit-out electrical works, coordinating with other trades and main contractors.
  • Work cleanly, respectfully, and with minimal disruption in occupied homes while clients are living around the job.
  • Read and work from drawings, specifications, and quotes accurately.
  • Manage your own time and sequencing on site to hit programme deadlines.
  • Carry out inspection and testing, and sign off certification (2391 or working toward it).
  • Liaise directly with clients, developers, and other trades professionally — you’re often the face of FES on site.
  • Flag issues, variations, and additional works clearly and early.
  • Work as part of a two-person team on every job, directing and developing the electrical improver you’re paired with.

Travel

Our work is spread across the South of England, not just the local patch, so travel is a core, non-negotiable part of this role, and some days will mean a long drive to site. In return: All travel is paid for, on top of your day rate.

Overtime is available and paid at a premium rate when jobs demand it, but it’s entirely your choice — there’s no obligation to take it on.

What You’ll Need

  • Qualified electrician: NVQ Level 3 / equivalent, 18th Edition (essential).
  • 2391 Inspection & Testing, or working towards it (strongly preferred).
  • Proven experience running rewires and refurbishment projects with minimal supervision.
  • Commercial fit-out experience is a strong plus.
  • CSCS card (or willing to obtain before starting on commercial sites).
  • Own tools and reliable transport, and genuinely happy to travel widely across the South of England.
  • Own public liability insurance and, if VAT registered, ability to invoice under CIS (subcontract basis).
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership — you’ll be trusted with real responsibility from day one.
  • Bonus points for: experience with EV charger installs, ASHPs, or renewables — this is a growth area for us.

How This Role Works

This role starts on a subcontract basis. You’ll invoice under CIS, work to agreed day rates or priced work, and operate as your own business alongside ours. After a 6-month working probation period, if it’s the right fit on both sides, we’ll move you onto an employed basis with FES — more stability, same ownership, as we keep growing the commercial and developer side of the business.

How to Apply

Send your CV, details of your qualifications (18th Edition, 2391 status), and examples of rewire or fit-out work you’ve led to admin@futureenergyservices.uk, or apply directly through this listing.
