Location: Camberwell, London (SE5), Hybrid. Seniority level: Senior / Lead, reporting to the CTO. Type of role: Full-time, Permanent. Salary/compensation: Competitive, based on experience and Skills.
The Role e-nano ROBOTICS is looking for a Lead Electronics & Embedded Systems Engineer to take ownership of electronics and embedded software development across our robotics, sensing, and autonomous systems projects.
This is an individual contributor role, focused on hands-on technical ownership. You will be expected to take projects from requirements and architecture through PCB design, firmware development, prototype bring-up, testing and preparation for manufacture. You will work closely with the CTO, who currently covers much of this area. The successful candidate should be capable of independently taking ownership of day-to-day electronics and embedded systems development, while using the CTO for higher-level technical direction and support when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronics.
- Produce schematics, multilayer PCB layouts, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
- Select microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communication devices and power components.
- Develop embedded firmware in C/C++.
- Write and maintain low-level drivers and hardware interfaces.
- Work with CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI, I²C, USB and related protocols.
- Integrate sensors, GNSS receivers, IMUs, encoders, motors and actuators.
- Develop real-time data acquisition, control and communication systems.
- Design power supplies, protection circuits and battery-powered systems.
- Perform PCB bring-up, debugging and fault diagnosis.
- Integrate hardware and firmware into robotic and embedded platforms.
- Carry out laboratory and field testing.
- Support productisation, manufacturing and compliance activities.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and reusable hardware/software designs.
- Take ownership of technical problems and drive them through to resolution.
- Work closely with founders and key team members to become e-nano ROBOTICS’ primary technical owner for electronics and embedded systems.

Essential Experience
- Strong professional experience in electronics and embedded systems development.
- PCB design and schematic capture experience.
- Strong embedded C/C++ development skills.
- Experience with microcontrollers and embedded processors.
- Experience developing sensor and peripheral drivers.
- Strong understanding of analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronics.
- Experience with CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI and I²C.
- Experience debugging both hardware and firmware.
- Good understanding of power electronics, grounding, filtering and EMC.
- Comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analysers and other laboratory equipment.
- Ability to independently deliver complete embedded systems from concept to working product.
- Willingness to take initiative and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Desirable Experience
- Experience with robotics, ROS2, embedded Linux, RTOS, GNSS/IMUs, motor control, VESC, battery systems, wireless communications, Python, environmental testing, CE/UKCA compliance and production manufacturing would be beneficial.
