Lead Electronics Engineer
Woking, Surrey (Office-based, 5 days) | £70,000
We're a growing hardware technology company, and we're hiring a Lead Electronics Engineer to take technical ownership of our electronic engineering team and drive our new product development (NPD) portfolio.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants to build and shape a team, not just manage one. Reporting to our Head of Hardware Engineering, you'll own electronics architecture decisions and stay close enough to the detail to unblock the team when it counts.
What you'll be doing
- Leading our electronic engineering team: capability, capacity, process, and tools
- Owning electronics systems and subsystems end to end, from architecture and trade-off studies through specification, compliance, and verification
- Capturing stakeholder requirements for new products, variants, and problem spaces
- Driving process and technology selection: soldering, layer stack, thermal management, testability
- Building validation and production test plans, including test jig design, to protect yield
- Leading root cause analysis on production and design issues
- Managing outsourced partners commercially and technically, from SOWs through performance
- Representing engineering with customers, from NPD through product support
- Supervising in-house and external EMC test work
- Researching new technologies to push performance and cost forward

What you'll bring
- Degree in Electronic Engineering (Masters+ preferred)
- 10+ years' electronic design engineering on complex electro-mechanical-software products, including project/technical leadership
- Strong BLDC/brushless motor design background, plus experience in one or more of: motor drive circuits, video signal processing, sensor interfacing (optical/magnetic/temperature)
- Analogue signal conditioning, protection circuitry, and power supply design
- High-speed digital design and EMC troubleshooting experience
- Embedded software/firmware fluency for architecture, board bring-up, and integration
- Strong requirements writing, test planning, and V&V/qualification experience
- Altium (schematic + PCB layout) proficiency
