Lead Technician
Location: West London
Salary: £48,000 - £50,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, alternating between 7:00am - 4:00pm and 8:00am - 5:00pm
Call-Out: Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota required
Overtime: Available
About the Role
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading facilities management and engineering services provider for a Lead Technician to join a prestigious commercial and laboratory environment in West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically qualified engineer looking to take the next step into a leadership role. The successful candidate will act as the site's technical lead, overseeing maintenance delivery, managing contractors, and supporting day-to-day operations while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical point of contact across the site.
- Lead and manage all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
- Coordinate and oversee specialist subcontractors and service providers.
- Ensure all works are completed in line with health, safety, environmental, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Manage maintenance schedules, work orders, and asset information through CAFM systems.
- Review maintenance reports and identify remedial works where required.
- Source and procure materials, equipment, and replacement parts.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive maintenance best practices.
- Produce quotations for minor works and project activities.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide technical support as needed.
- Carry out hands-on maintenance activities when required, including covering for absences and critical works.

Requirements
Essential
- Strong building services or multi-skilled engineering background.
- Previous experience supervising maintenance activities within a commercial, scientific, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or critical environment.
- Excellent knowledge of statutory compliance and planned maintenance programmes.
- Experience using CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage contractors and build effective client relationships.
- Proven ability to lead by example and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.

Desirable
- LVAP qualification or experience.
- L8/Water Hygiene knowledge.
- Experience working within laboratory, research, or technically complex environments.
- Understanding of SFG20 maintenance standards.
