Lead Software Engineer (.NET / Azure / AWS)
Location: hybrid, Manchester
Salary: £80,000 - £90,000
We’re working with a fast-growing technology business that is scaling its platform and looking for a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across key product areas.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll continue to write code, influence architecture, support engineering standards, and manage a small team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs using C# and.NET Core.
- Own technical decisions around REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and cloud integrations.
- Work across Azure and AWS environments, including App Service, Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage, and EventBridge.
- Drive engineering quality through testing, code reviews, CI/CD improvements, and best practices.
- Support and mentor a small team of engineers through regular feedback, coaching, and development conversations.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technical documentation, and engineering improvements.

What we’re looking for
- Strong experience with C#,.NET Core, ASP.NET Core Web API, and Entity Framework Core.
- Proven experience building scalable APIs and event-driven systems.
- Strong SQL Server / Azure SQL experience.
- Experience with Azure services and familiarity with AWS.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, Git, and code reviews.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers.
- Comfortable making architectural decisions and balancing delivery with technical quality.
- Experience using AI tools to improve software development efficiency.

Nice to have:
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Cross-cloud integrations (AWS EventBridge and Azure Service Bus).
- Familiarity with PHP or legacy.NET Framework applications.
