Lead Engineer/ Architect (.NET) - Industrial
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Engineer/ Architect (.NET) - Industrial based in United Kingdom.
As a hands-on Lead Engineer and Architect, you will spearhead software architecture and technical execution for an enterprise-grade IoT asset tracking platform serving global industrial leaders across chemical, automotive, and energy sectors. Operating in an AI-first, fully remote environment, you will balance active coding with team leadership, system design, and process optimization. You will architect concurrent, fault-tolerant distributed systems using C# and.NET, oversee data modeling, and champion modern engineering practices like TDD and CI/CD. Beyond hands-on development, you will mentor a distributed team of engineers, drive internal AI tool adoption (such as GitHub Copilot), and collaborate with product teams to scale cloud infrastructure. This role offers an incredible blend of technical depth, leadership scope, and direct commercial impact across global supply chains.
Accountabilities
- Design, architect, and write production code for core platform features, defining system boundaries, data models, API contracts, and concurrency mechanisms.
- Lead a distributed agile team, running sprints, unblocking developers, setting goals, and conducting regular 1:1 mentorship, code reviews, and pair programming sessions.
- Drive engineering excellence across the development lifecycle by championing test-driven development (TDD), CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security-by-design standards.
- Champion AI integration by embedding AI coding assistants into engineering workflows and identifying opportunities to integrate AI/ML features into the IoT platform.
- Resolve complex performance bottlenecks, architectural challenges, and cross-cutting system issues to support high-scale enterprise deployments.
- Partner with Product, Operations, and executive leadership to refine technology roadmaps, translate business requirements into technical plans, and recruit top engineering talent.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
