Are you a highly skilled Gas Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and supporting others to succeed?
At Platform Property Care, we're looking for a Lead Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership across our gas servicing operations in Birmingham and the West Midlands. Working closely with operational teams, you'll help resolve challenging cases, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient, and customer-focused services. This is an excellent opportunity to move into a role where your knowledge and experience can make a real difference.
Reporting to the Heating Service Delivery Manager
You will provide specialist technical support across our gas operations, helping to resolve complex repairs, gain access to hard-to-reach properties, and support appointments that require a flexible approach.

Essential Qualifications
Who we're looking for
- Appropriate ACS gas qualifications (e.g., CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, MET1, CPA1).
- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation (or equivalent) is essential.
- Unvented hot water qualification.
- High level of competency in diagnosing and carrying out complex heating repairs.
- Basic electrical understanding of complex heating systems.
- LPG and Oil qualifications, or willingness to achieve these during probation.

- Strong technical background and experience across a range of domestic gas appliances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and other trades.
- Proven track record of achieving high first-time fix rates.
- Experience working in occupied domestic properties.
- Knowledge of Social Housing and relevant legislation including Awaab's Law would be an advantage.
- Competence using portable tools, ladders, and equipment.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to manage sensitive situations.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage complex cases effectively.
- High standard of written and verbal communication.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- IT literacy, including use of handheld devices and email.
- Full current valid UK driving licence is essential, as this is a mobile role.
- As you will be working in our customers' homes you would also require a DBS check.
- Flexibility to work varying hours and days to meet operational priorities and maintain service cover.
- Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours rota.
- This is a mobile role covering Birmingham and the West Midlands, so you will need to live within a reasonable travelling distance of the area. Ideally no further than an hour's commute.

- Basic salary of £46,000 per annum (additional can be earned from voluntary overtime and out of hours)
