Computershare have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer Identity to join our CTO group under Global Infrastructure Engineering, focusing on strategy, implementation, and advanced support.

The Global Chief Information Officer (CTO) group is responsible for planning, designing, building, and running technology services. The CTO teams span architecture, infrastructure, service operations, compliance, and technical support.

We ensure that colleagues around the world have access to the technology and agreed service levels that they need to take care of their clients and their clients’ shareholders, employees, and customers.

A role you will love

The Lead Engineer Identity leads the strategy and execution of modern digital workplace solutions, driving M365 transformation. The role enhances employee productivity and collaboration while aligning technology with business needs, creating a flexible, user-centric global workspace.

Other key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Technical Management: Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of modern workspace identity services (Entra ID, Active Directory, Conditional Access, MFA, identity lifecycle, SSO, Managed Identities, Enterprise Applications, etc).
  • Strategy & Innovation: Define and drive workspace identity strategy, leveraging emerging technologies to enhance productivity and employee experience.
  • Solution Design: Ensure effective design, implementation, and integration of directory services aligned with business goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with executives and cross-functional teams (IT, HR, Facilities) to align initiatives with business strategy.
  • Change & Adoption: Lead change management efforts, including training and adoption of new workspace solutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Track KPIs, analyse user feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure solutions meet regulatory and security standards in collaboration with InfoSec teams.
  • Team Leadership: Foster innovation and continuous improvement across the team by cultivating a culture of learning, experimentation, and knowledge sharing. Provide structured support and mentoring to develop Identity engineers and Operations team members, enabling capability growth, increased ownership, and consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a global, user-centric workspace identity strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Develop and leverage user personas to ensure solutions meet diverse user needs.
  • Oversee implementation and continuous optimization using feedback and performance data.
  • Track KPIs and report on performance, impact, and ROI to stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, translating technical concepts into business value.
  • Identify and adopt emerging technologies to enhance employee experience.
  • Lead change management initiatives, including training and user adoption.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal delivery and support.
  • Prioritize initiatives using value-based decision-making.
  • Manage and maintain a prioritized product backlog aligned with business value.
  • Apply agile practices to deliver incremental value and respond to changing needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and release teams to ensure timely delivery.

What will you bring to the role

Functional Knowledge: Strong expertise in Agile/Scrum practices, facilitation, and negotiation. Deep domain knowledge of workspace identity systems with the ability to apply and share industry best practices.

Business Experience: Solid understanding of cross-functional team dynamics and stakeholder engagement to drive business and departmental outcomes.

Leadership Skills: Experience managing and mentoring teams, ensuring quality delivery, and contributing to large-scale continuous improvement initiatives.

Change Leadership: Ability to drive change in complex environments, manage dependencies, and deliver business outcomes effectively.

Impact: Direct responsibility for delivering and maximizing value from the Modern Workspace strategy through strong stakeholder partnerships.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships, challenge constructively, and respond effectively.

Qualifications & Expertise

Essential:

  • Deep understanding of directory services, EntraID (PIM, Conditional Access, MFA, identity lifecycle, Managed Identities, Enterprise Applications, etc) and Active Directory in a global enterprise.
  • Strong knowledge of Zero Trust identity solutions (e.g., Conditional Access, Passwordless, Windows Hello).
  • Experience with SAML configuration, claims, attribute mappings, and identity federation.
  • Understanding of API integrations and governance within M365/Azure.
  • Understanding of Entra MFA and authentication methods (OTP, Passwordless, Tokens, FIDO).

  • Azure DevOps experience / usage of automation platforms.
  • Understanding of modern device management / user experience management fundamentals: M365 suite, Intune.
  • Degree or professional qualifications.
  • Agile certification (e.g., BCS Foundation in Agile).
