Automotive Lead Engineers – Interior or Exterior Systems

Location: Crewe, United Kingdom – on-site

Start date: Asap

Design Consulting is looking for experienced Automotive Lead Engineers to support Current Model Production activities for a premium automotive manufacturer in Crewe.

We are recruiting profiles for the following technical areas:

  • Exterior Systems: seals, sealing management and body hardware
  • Interior Systems: interior trim, seating systems, restraints, airbags and seatbelts

The Lead Engineers will manage engineering changes and production-related issues from root-cause analysis through technical resolution, validation, release and implementation.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering activities and ensure project milestones are achieved
  • Manage Current Model Production issues and engineering changes
  • Develop technically feasible and cost-effective component or system solutions
  • Coordinate containment actions, prototype builds and line trials
  • Manage validation, Bill of Material and product data updates
  • Support Permit, Engineering Change Request, B-Release, BMG and K-Release processes
  • Coordinate suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Lead project meetings and prepare agendas, action lists and minutes
  • Track project timing, costs, risks and open technical issues
  • Present technical solutions and project status to management

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 4–5 years of professional experience on Bentley automotive projects
  • Strong technical experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Exterior Systems: seals, sealing management or body hardware
    • Interior Systems: interior trim, seating systems, restraints, airbags or seatbelts
  • Good knowledge of Volkswagen Group development processes, standards and engineering systems
  • Fluent or native-level English – minimum C1
  • Availability to work on-site in Crewe
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom

Preferred

  • Experience with Current Model Production, engineering changes and series-production issue resolution
  • Knowledge of CATIA and/or LCA
  • Familiarity with ECR, B/K Release, KPM, BoM and PDM processes
  • Strong project-management and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Previous experience coordinating suppliers and engineering teams
  • Current residence in the United Kingdom, ideally within commuting distance of Crewe
  • Availability for occasional business travel
