Up to £65,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Benefits
The Opportunity
An established fire safety consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Lead Fire Risk Assessor to provide technical leadership across its growing Fire Risk Assessment team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly competent Fire Risk Assessor looking to step into a senior technical position, overseeing quality, mentoring colleagues, and undertaking complex fire risk assessments across a varied portfolio of premises.
The successful candidate will act as a key technical authority within the business, ensuring fire risk assessments are delivered to the highest standards, while supporting the ongoing development and competency of assessors throughout the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake life safety fire risk assessments across a range of commercial, residential, and complex premises.
- Lead on higher-risk and technically challenging assessments within your area of competence.
- Produce detailed, compliant, and proportionate fire risk assessment reports.
- Act as a technical escalation point for fire safety matters.
- Review, validate, and quality assure fire risk assessments completed by other assessors.
- Support competency reviews, witnessed assessments, and internal technical audits.
- Mentor and coach Fire Risk Assessors, providing technical guidance and development support.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with BAFE SP205 requirements and certification audits.
- Monitor report quality and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing expert fire safety advice where required.
- Support the wider business by identifying opportunities for additional fire safety services.

Candidate Requirements
- Significant experience conducting life safety fire risk assessments.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire safety legislation and guidance.
- Experience assessing complex and higher-risk buildings.
- Previous experience reviewing reports, providing technical assurance, mentoring assessors, or managing competency programmes is highly desirable.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of passive fire protection, compartmentation, means of escape, fire detection and alarm systems, emergency lighting, and fire safety management.
- Ability to make sound, evidence-based fire safety decisions and provide practical recommendations to clients.

Knowledge & Qualifications
Applicants should hold a recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification and be able to demonstrate competence appropriate to the complexity of assessments undertaken. Strong working knowledge of:
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Fire Safety Act 2021
- Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
- PAS 79-1
- BS 9999
- BS 9991
- Approved Document B
- Housing Act 2004 & HHSRS
- Relevant fire safety legislation and guidance across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland
Professional membership with organisations such as the IFE or IFSM would be advantageous, alongside a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
