Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Lead Fire Risk Assessor role based in Calverton. The Lead Fire Risk Assessor will carry out comprehensive fire risk assessments across a range of building types, identifying hazards, evaluating risks, and recommending proportionate control measures in line with current legislation and best practice.

  • Inspecting premises
  • Reviewing documentation and fire safety systems
  • Preparing clear, evidence-based reports
  • Advising clients on prioritizing remedial actions

The role includes leading assessment projects, coordinating with fire engineers, installers, and client stakeholders, and ensuring assessments are completed to agreed timelines and quality standards. The Lead Fire Risk Assessor will also contribute to continuous improvement, support internal training and mentoring of junior assessors, and help develop procedures and tools that strengthen Global HSE Group’s fire safety services.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of fire safety legislation, codes of practice, and fire engineering principles, with experience applying them to real-world building environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct structured fire risk assessments, including site inspections, risk analysis, and development of pragmatic, proportionate recommendations.
  • Excellent report-writing, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings in a clear, concise, and actionable manner to varied audiences.
  • Proven experience leading projects or teams in a fire safety, fire risk assessment, or related HSE environment, including planning work, managing deadlines, and ensuring quality.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors, and internal colleagues across multiple divisions.
  • Relevant fire safety or fire risk assessment qualifications (e.g., nationally recognized fire risk assessment certification, fire engineering degree, or equivalent professional training).
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of a professional body (such as a fire safety or health and safety institution) is highly beneficial.
  • Competence in using digital tools for report production, data collection, and documentation, with good general IT skills.
