Job Overview

The Essex Wellbeing Service, part of Provide Community and funded by Essex County Council, supports residents to reduce loneliness, live independently, stop smoking, improve their lifestyle, and take part in the NHS Health Check Programme.

The role will lead on promoting Making Every Contact Count (MECC) across all partner organisations. This includes helping staff understand MECC, encouraging them to use everyday conversations to support health and wellbeing, and acting as the main point of contact for any questions, support, or training.

You will work with the EWS Single Point of Access Manager on our Care Navigation Partnership to strengthen MECC opportunities by bringing partners together.

You will work in a busy environment with many partners, so strong communication skills, relationship-building, and the ability to manage varied priorities are essential. You must also know the Essex area well, have a driving license, and travel around the county regularly.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead on the direction and development of the 3-year MECC training plan.
  • Lead the development and delivery of MECC in Essex.
  • Find practical ways to embed MECC into services.
  • Co-produce MECC training and resources tailored to organisations' needs.
  • Deliver MECC training across the county, both internally and externally.
  • Organise and coordinate internal and external meetings with a range of stakeholders.
  • Produce clear reports, documents, and presentations.
  • Build positive relationships with partners.
  • Respond to enquiries via phone, email, virtually, or in person.
  • Evaluate outcomes and translate these into recommendations to improve delivery and participant understanding of MECC.
  • Keep accurate records in line with information governance rules.
  • Act as the main contact for MECC support and training.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The postholder will lead on the development and delivery of Making Every Contact Count (MECC) across Essex, working with partner organisations to identify and strengthen opportunities to embed MECC into services.

A key responsibility will be to lead on the direction and development of the 3-year MECC training plan, as well as the wider development and delivery of MECC across Essex. The postholder will identify practical ways to embed MECC into services and will co-produce MECC training and resources tailored to the needs of individual organisations.

The role will involve delivering MECC training across the county to both internal and external organisations. The postholder will act as the main point of contact for MECC support and training, responding to enquiries via phone, email, virtual meetings, or in person.

Working closely with partners will be an important part of the role. The postholder will organise and coordinate internal and external meetings with a range of stakeholders and build positive relationships with partner organisations. The postholder will also work with the EWS Single Point of Access Manager on the Care Navigation Partnership to strengthen MECC opportunities by bringing partners together.

The postholder will produce clear reports, documents, and presentations and will evaluate outcomes, translating findings into recommendations to improve delivery and participant understanding of MECC.

The role requires accurate record keeping in accordance with information governance rules and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment with multiple partners and varied priorities.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential. The postholder must have good knowledge of the Essex area, hold a driving licence, and be able to travel regularly around the county.

Essential criteria

  • Degree /NVQ L6 in Public Health or relevant level of qualification or significant previous proven experience delivering and coordination training programmes

Work Related Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple workstreams with different organisations and partners
  • Demonstrable experience of a range of IT applications: Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, including data manipulation skills, Web Applications and project management systems
  • High level of experience in dealing with key stakeholders and dealing with sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience in change management

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of managing outside events/activities
  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of health inequalities and the main issues affecting the local community and behaviour change models.

Skills & Aptitudes

Essential criteria

  • Strong communication skills with excellent writing, data entry and presentation skills to colleagues, partners and service users
  • Responsible for the service development by exploring innovative solutions and suggesting different approaches.
  • Ability to work independently to manage workload with minimal supervision and strong prioritisation skillsoad on a daily basis.
  • Experience and management of financial and physical resources

Desirable criteria

  • High level of experience of producing precise reports and analysis for optimal resource allocation
