Lead the Engineering Vision for a First-of-a-Kind Nuclear Programme

Egis is seeking an experienced Lead for Site Engineering to act as the senior technical authority for an infrastructure programme. You will define and govern the integrated site design across civil infrastructure, utilities, enabling systems, site layout, and external interfaces, ensuring technical integrity, compliance, and lifecycle suitability throughout delivery.
The Role
As the recognised site engineering authority, you will:
- Own and maintain the site architecture, design intent, requirements baseline, technical principles, and acceptance criteria.
- Provide independent technical leadership, governance, and assurance across the programme.
- Lead integration across civil works, structures, utilities, transport, logistics, enabling systems, plant interfaces, and external networks.
- Manage technical interfaces, dependencies, configuration control, and design maturity.
- Ensure compliance with safety requirements, regulatory frameworks, engineering standards, and programme governance.
- Champion safe-by-design principles, technical risk management, and design integrity.
- Support programme delivery through technical input into procurement, schedules, costs, resources, and delivery readiness.
- Drive digital engineering, systems integration, BIM, and information management best practices.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and represent IPT5 at technical reviews, governance boards, and senior stakeholder forums.

About You
Essential
- Degree-qualified in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Significant experience as a Technical Authority, Chief Engineer, Systems Architect, or senior engineering leader on complex, safety-critical programmes.
- Strong systems engineering and multidisciplinary design integration expertise.
- Proven experience managing requirements, interfaces, configuration, compliance, verification & validation, and technical assurance.
- Experience within major regulated infrastructure, nuclear, energy, defence, rail, or similar sectors.
- Strong understanding of design governance, change control, risk management, and acceptance processes.
- Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary and multi-organisation engineering teams.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and make sound technical decisions in complex environments.

Desirable
- Experience in fusion, nuclear new-build, scientific facilities, or first-of-a-kind programmes.
- Previous Design Authority, client-side, or integrated delivery team experience.
- Knowledge of site masterplanning, utilities, logistics, enabling works, and external infrastructure interfaces.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations, MBSE, BIM, digital engineering, and requirements management tools.
- Experience with NEC contracts, supplier assurance, regulatory submissions, and safety case development.
