Who We Are:
At Agile Retail, we operate stores, build brands and support some of the world's most recognisable retail businesses. We're now building Agile X app- our single operating environment designed to bring disconnected retail systems, processes and data together into one scalable platform.
We're looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer to take technical ownership of Agile X and help take it to the next stage. This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll shape the architecture, write code and lead technical development, helping us build a platform that can evolve from connected retail operations into data-driven, AI-assisted decision-making.
The Lead Full Stack Engineer Role:
- Own the technical direction and development of Agile X, combining hands-on full-stack engineering with architecture, technical leadership and delivery.
- Own the technical development, architecture and engineering roadmap for Agile X.
- Build and oversee backend services using Node.js and Express.
- Develop modern frontend experiences using React and Vite.
- Own and evolve the platform's AWS and DynamoDB data architecture.
- Build scalable, modular and API-first systems connecting retail operations, workforce, customer and performance data.
- Integrate POS, inventory, workforce, customer and third-party systems into a single connected environment.
- Manage engineering priorities, sprint planning, testing, documentation and releases.
- Establish strong engineering standards across code quality, testing and deployment.
- Lead and support engineers, contractors and external development partners.
- Help evolve Agile X towards data visualisation, predictive analytics, automation and AI-assisted operational decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
